In addition to the wonderful Festival program on offer, the 16th ASSITEJ World Congress has workshops for children and young people and extraordinary professional development opportunities for teachers, artists and anyone with a passion for theatre for children and young people.
Carclew’s Arts Blast schools workshop program offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with international, national and local artists. Such direct experiences with artists not only empower students to gain skills in communicating through specific arts languages, they also help students to make connections between the ASSITEJ 2008 program performances, units of work contained with the Resource Pack for Teachers, their own prior knowledge and classroom experiences.
I encourage all teachers to consider the advantages of becoming an ASSITEJ 2008 Delegate, and attendance of the various workshops and forums.
Such experiences provide invaluable professional learning for teachers in their ongoing provision of arts learning in schools and centres.
