Australia v South Africa

by Zeal Theatre & Ellis and Bheki

"This production, both in performance and direction, is impeccable. It’s a riveting study of raw nationalismcum- racism and the misuse of authority... Highly recommended!"

Southern Courier

After two South African boys play a prank on the Australian mascot at a big international sporting event, the media blow up the story into a political storm.

Two Australian brothers, outraged by the prank, want payback on the South Africans, and when the four wind up in gaol together, the Big Game begins.

Zeal Theatre’s Tom Lycos and Stefo Nantsou (2005 ASSITEJ Honorary Presidents Award winners and creators of The Stones) team with the world renowned South African duo Ellis Pearson and Bheki Mkhwane to present a hilarious and dramatic theatrical take on sport, nationalism and racism.

Australia v South Africa is a theatrical tour-de-force from four of the most experienced theatre for young people practitioners from the Southern Hemisphere.
