Tim McGarry co founded Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People in 1997 with Eva Di Cesare & Sandra Eldridge. He sits on the Creative Directorate of the company, and also works as a freelance actor in Sydney.

Tim graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Theatre credits include It’s a Dad Thing (TML Management) Sentimental Bloke (WATC), Bouncers (RTC), Snoopy (Hole in the Wall) The Carthaginians, A Respectable Wedding (Crossroads Theatre), A More Fortunate Life (Theatre Ink), Hating Alison Ashley, The Male Line, Time Gentlemen, Time is Not Yet Ripe, Macbeth, Italian Stories (Theatre South) The Information (Company B Sharp) & Big River (Gordon Frost). Film and TV credits include Lilian’s Story, The Goddess of 1967, A More Fortunate Life, Backberner, The Camera Trap & All Saints.

For Monkey Baa Tim has performed in The Bugalugs Bum Thief, The Fairy’s Wings, Worry Warts, The Prospectors and Jackie French’s Hitler’s Daughter which won the 2007 Helpmann Award.

 

Tim sits on the board of Arts on Tour Ltd, the state touring organisation for the performing arts in NSW and the SAMAG (Sydney Arts Management Advisory Group) Committee. Tim is Vice President of NSW Branch Council of MEAA (Actor’s Equity Division).
