What is the General Assembly?

ASSITEJ members, who perform everywhere from major world performing arts centres to poor villages in developing countries, gather once every three years to discuss their mutual concerns and the future in the ASSITEJ General Assembly.

The General Assembly of ASSITEJ International will take place over four days in the Banquet Room of the Adelaide Festival Centre. It is the ultimate decision making body of the organisation, and the decisions made in Adelaide will direct the work of ASSITEJ over the next three years. The officers and members of the ASSITEJ Executive Committee for 2008 to 2011 will be elected on Friday 16 May, “chosen to represent as fairly as possible the interests of the organization and the diversity of all the national centres, taking into account such factors as geography, aesthetics, ethnic origin, gender, and cultural identity”.

In November 2007, the ASSITEJ General Secretariat sent out a call to centres in approximately 80 countries to send a delegation to the General Assembly.
